Namecoach offers the Namecoach Namebadge to any individual with a Namecoach account and is an easy way to share how to pronounce your name quickly and easily. In this article we will be creating a Namebadge as well as integrating the Namebadge into Outlook and Gmail as an email signature.
The Namecoach Namebadge operates a little differently than other recordings you may have in the Namecoach application. Because of this and because the Namebadge is offered to any user, a user's Namebadge will not transfer its recording to any LTI course or to any event Namepages.
Setting up your Namecoach Account
Making an account for Individuals
If you do not yet have a Namecoach account, you will need to create a Namecoach account in order to use the Namecoach Namebadge. If you already have a Namecoach account, you can skip this step by logging into your Namecoach account. If you have forgotten your password, you can use this link to reset your password.
If you do not have a Namecoach account but would like a Namebadge, a Namecoach account can be created by following the below steps:
- Navigate to www.name-coach.com
- Click on Login
- On the next page, click "Sign up"
- In the following prompt, click "Record and share your name" and then follow the recording prompt.
After filling out the following prompt and clicking "Submit" your new Namecoach account will be created and you will be redirected automatically to your new account dashboard.
Creating a Namebadge
When you first login to your Namecoach account you can view your Namecoach Namebadge by clicking the "My Namebadge" hyperlink at the top of the dashboard.
When you first click on "My Namebadge" you will notice your Namebadge starts blank and only includes your name. In order to add information such as pronunciation notes and a recording of your correct name pronunciation, you will want to click the button that says "Update."
From here, you will be presented with a form to provide any information you would like to include in your Namebadge, along with a recording prompt. Following this form and clicking "Submit" will populate your Namebadge with the information that you provide.
Adding your Namebadge to an email signature
If you would like, it is possible to add the Namecoach Namebadge as an HTML signature which when clicked will redirect recipients to your Namebadge URL. To find the different options available for HTML signatures, you can scroll down on your Namebadge and click "Add Namebadge to your signature" to view the different options available for email signatures.
From here, you will want to click the button next to the email signature you would like to appear in your email signature.
Next, you will want to open the settings of your preferred email client to paste in your signature. The following instructions differ slightly depending on which client you use for email.
Integrating in Gmail
To add your Namebadge to your Gmail signature, you can do so by opening your Gmail quick settings and then selecting "see all settings." From here, you will want to stay in the General tab and scroll down until you see "Signatures" and from this signatures menu all that's left to do is paste the signature from your clipboard into the signature field and save the changes.
Integrating in Outlook
To add your Namebadge into your Outlook signature, you will want to navigate to your signature settings. For the Windows Outlook client this can be found under File>Options>Mail and under here you should find the signature option. For the MacOS Outlook client the signature settings can be found under Outlook > Preferences (which can also be opened using "⌘ + ," when Outlook is selected) and under Email will be the signatures option. To create a new signature you will want to click the + icon. In the next prompt, title the signature as you see fit and then all that's left is to paste your Namebadge signature into your Outlook signature body. Once this is saved, your Namebadge signature should be present in your email signature.
Integrating with Apple Mail
If you would like to integrate the Namecoach Namebadge into Apple Mail, you will want to follow the documentation regarding integrating the Namebadge into the Apple Mail signature: https://name-coach.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360053623194-Apple-Mail-Namebadge-Signature
